Stumbling Stone

Jan 25, 2026

What if the very person who offers us salvation is also the one we stumble over? This powerful exploration of Romans 9-10 reveals a profound paradox: Jesus Christ stands as both our Savior and a stumbling stone. The message confronts us with the simplicity of salvation—confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved. Yet despite this beautiful simplicity, countless people trip over Jesus because they're trying to earn righteousness through their own works rather than receiving it through faith. We see this played out in the Jewish people who pursued the law zealously but missed the very Messiah standing before them. Today, we face the same danger when we measure our standing before God by our church attendance, good deeds, or moral superiority rather than by faith alone. The challenge becomes deeply personal: Are we willing to lay down our achievements and self-righteousness to simply believe? And once we've found Jesus as Savior rather than stumbling block, will we boldly share this hope with others who are still tripping over Him? The call is clear—we are all preachers sent to proclaim this good news, even when fear grips us and circumstances seem imperfect.
